What We Can Do For These Common Complaints About New Dentures

What We Can Do For These Common Complaints About New DenturesIf you are getting your first pair of dentures, you could be excited about using them. However, it is important to understand that there are common denture problems that new wearers experience.

Trouble Speaking

When you have new dentures, speaking fluently can be a challenge. Dentures might feel like a foreign object in your mouth, affecting how you pronounce words. It can be challenging to learn how to move your tongue around the dentures. However, as time progresses, you will get used to speaking with dentures. To perfect your speech, you should practice speaking in private. You can read out loud your favorite novel or talk to yourself until you feel ready. Besides, singing along with your favorite songs can help you form words faster. Regular exercises will get you speaking normally and with confidence!

Difficult Eating

This is one of the most common complaints regarding new dentures. You will need time and practice to get used to eating with new dentures. During the first few weeks of wearing dentures, you will find it challenging to eat. The dentures could slip out of position when you chew or bite down into food. Furthermore, food types like seeds and nuts could get stuck under your dentures and cause discomfort. To overcome this denture problem, you should stick to easy-to-eat foods during the first few weeks. Opt for soft foods that are easy to chew.

Furthermore, you can try chewing food with both sides of your mouth to keep the dentures stable. Continued use of dentures will get you used to them, improving your eating skills. In fact, after wearing dentures for some time, you will start eating most of the foods you ate before getting dentures. Therefore, you don't have to be afraid of using your dentures. Visit our offices for more information on the common denture problems and how to fix them.
