![]() Take a Moment After You Eat Although you will want to carefully clean your dentures each evening, you should also take a few minutes right after you eat to rinse your dentures. While this won't get all of the bacteria that may be present on the surface of the dentures, it will help clean out leftover food particles that would otherwise serve as a food source for the microbes. It will also help keep your breath fresh. Cleaning at Night In the evening, you will want to clean your dentures carefully. This is one area where dentures are actually better than natural teeth, because you can remove them for cleaning. In addition, after you take your dentures out for the evening, take a few minutes and clean out your mouth. During the course of the day you may build up pockets of bacteria and food detritus under the dentures. Cleaning out your mouth will help cut down on issues. Soak Your Dentures at NightThe softer part of the dentures that rests against your gum tissue should never be allowed to dry out. After you have cleaned your dentures in the evening, put them in a denture-soaking solution overnight. If you don't have any solution, you can use pure water. In either case, make sure that you rinse the dentures before putting them back in in the morning.Caring for your dentures will be a habit you need to build up, but we are here to help if you have any questions. Feel free to call us, and we'll be happy to talk with you. |
