Denture Goichi Shiotsu, DDS WA 98040-2985Not all dentures or dental implants have to be a full or complete set; each patient has his or her own circumstances and a full or complete denture or dental implant will be a waste of his or her time and money if a partial one will do the job well.

A partial denture usually replaces one or several teeth that have either broken down or chipped, and they are far easier to clean and control than a complete denture.

These dental implants are removable as well, it also helps the mouth and gums retain their shape by filling in the spaces that were made due to the loss of teeth.

When is a Partial Denture Recommended?

A good rule of thumb when it comes to deciding whether or not a full or partial denture should be chosen lies on the shape and condition of the dental area.

In short, if there are still strong natural teeth that remain in the area, the dentist can make a framework for the denture or dental implant so that it supports the teeth that are remaining.

If the problem is also related to tooth decay and some of the teeth should be taken out, then a partial denture can also help you retain the facial structure and ensure that the force that is used to eat or chew is properly distributed so that the natural teeth that are remaining will experience a lesser burden and increase the life expectancy of the remaining teeth.

However, if all of the teeth in an area are missing already, a complete dental implant or full dentures are a necessity since a partial denture will not be as effective.

If you still have any questions or concerns about dentures, dental implants or anything related to your gums and teeth, drip by our clinic and let us help you get the excellent dental service that you deserve.
