![]() It is never a good idea to try and meld your mouth to some traditional shape. Instead, what you want is to make sure that your dentures are formed to your mouth. Dangers of Ill-Fitted DenturesThere are quite a few problems that come along with wearing dentures that don't fit right. First, they can cause significant sores around your mouth. These sores can be painful, plus they can be open, leading to the potential of you getting an infection in your mouth. Second, dentures that don't fit can cause pain when it comes to opening your mouth, eating, chewing, and even speaking. The last thing you want is to get dentures so you can function like normal, only to have them cause them too much pain to function like normal. Third, your dentures are going to slip around when you go to use your mouth. This could cause anything from an embarrassing moment to losing your dentures and them falling to the floor, breaking them. Don't bank on a one-size-fits-all approach to dentures. They won't fit, or give you the solution they were supposed to. Instead, go in and see your prosthodontist and get a set of dentures that fits your mouth perfectly. They will keep your mouth healthier, fit your mouth properly so they stay in place, and leave you more confident for using them. A customized set of dentures is going to benefit you most, so do everything you can to avoid getting any standard type of denture. |
