After spending the time and money to get a crown, you doubtless want to make sure that it lasts as long as possible. While the crown is crafted in a high-quality dental laboratory using the latest materials, it can and will deteriorate over time if you do not properly care for it. Here are some tips to help make your crown last longer.
Treat Your Crown as You Would Your Regular Teeth
Your crown is designed to operate just like your natural teeth. This means you need to give it the same care as you would your normal teeth. Avoid doing things such as crunching on ice, using your teeth to open bottles, and other similar things. Remember, if something can damage your natural teeth, there is a good chance that it can damage your crown, too.
Also, be sure that you follow a good oral hygiene routine with your crown. Just as you need to brush your teeth regularly and floss every day with your natural teeth, so too should you do these things with the crown. This will help keep your surrounding teeth and gums in good shape, too.
